What is RESHAPED?
RESHAPED
Researchers in the Humanities and Arts’ Platform for Enhancement and Development
Introduction
RESHAPED is an online training platform that provides free and accessible training resources designed to support the lifelong learning needs of humanities researchers across the UK and beyond. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, it is central to our national mission to equip the next generation of researchers with the skills and knowledge needed to advance the humanities.
The peer-reviewed resources are written and curated by experts from across and beyond the School, and provide training in the crucial interdisciplinary knowledge and skills needed by researchers at all career stages in a rapidly changing research landscape. We adopt an open and inclusive definition of humanities researchers to include those working in related disciplines and sectors, and the platform can also support you in finding new ways to connect with research training and resources across and beyond the UK.

How to use RESHAPED
The platform hosts a range of resources that are intended to support flexible training pathways that you can adapt to your individual needs and interests. These include: Courses, Toolkits and Hubs.
Courses
Courses take you on a learning journey through a specific knowledge area and the materials are intended to be worked through sequentially. The courses are designed for you to work your way through whenever and wherever you are, but can also be used in combination with live online or in-person training sessions at the School or locally.
Toolkits
Toolkits are focused collections of materials that will support a particular set of objectives that you are trying to achieve in a specific area (e.g. designing a public engagement event). While these benefit from working through sequentially, you may find that you only need portions of them and may come back later on to utilise them as and when you need them.
Hubs
Hubs are thematically organised areas on the platform where you’ll find training courses and toolkits on RESHAPED, related training events at the School, and expert-curated lists of external resources that can further expand your knowledge and skills.
Availability
The majority of our resources are accessible and visible to guest users without the need to create an account or log in to the platform. However, if you would like to be able to track your learning, participate in more interactive activities and connect with other researchers you will need to create a free account. The majority of our courses and resources are free of charge but some resources are connected to more intensive short courses, which you will need to register for via the School’s events system.
Contributing to RESHAPED
While content has initially been developed by staff and their collaborators at the School of Advanced Study, we are keen to make the platform available to external researchers and institutions seeking to disseminate their knowledge and training resources to the wider research community. Please contact reshaped@sas.ac.uk if you would like to discuss how we can support you with developing or hosting research training and development resources on our platform.
Who we are
This platform is overseen by the School’s learning technologists Niilante Ogunsola-Ribeiro and Simon Parr in collaboration with the wider academic staff and leadership team of the School of Advanced Study. The School of Advanced Study is part of the University of London and has a unique national role in the promotion and facilitation of humanities research, engagement and impact, funded by Research England.
