Accessibility Statement for RESHAPED

This accessibility statement applies to Virtual Learning Environment, RESHAPED.

This website is run by the School of Advanced Study, University of London. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the platform using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Live video streams do not always have captions
  • Users cannot change colours, contrast levels and fonts without using additional browser plugins
  • Many of the hubs, toolkits and courses use the Tiles format to display content. This format may cause difficulties for visitors with specific disabilities. If the format is proving difficult, please email reshaped@sas.ac.uk. In the meantime, you can make the tiles format more accessible by turning off animated navigation which you can do by selecting ‘Settings’ and then ‘Animated navigation turn off’.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

  • Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). We plan to add text alternatives for all images by January 2025. When we publish new content, we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
  • Captions are not enabled for all live content in synchronised mode. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.4 (captions live). We plan for this to be activated by all live sessions by January 2025.
  • Audio description is not enabled for all prerecorded video content in synchronised media. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.5 audio description (pre-recorded). We plan to add audio description for all pre-recorded video content by January 2025. When we publish new content, we’ll make sure our use of video meets accessibility standards.
  • All functionality that uses a dragging movement for operation cannot be achieved by a single pointer. This fails WCAG success criterion 2.5.7 dragging movements. We plan to provide alternatives by January 2025.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
